- Varghese Kurien was born on 26 November 1921 in a Syrian Christian family in the city of Kozhikode in the state of Kerala.

- In this way, Dr. Kurien called his batchmate in the US, H. M. Dalaya, to Anand and persuaded him to stay there.
- Soon H. M. Dalaya invented skim milk powder and condensed milk from buffalo milk.
