  1. Batukeshwar Dutt (14 November 1910 – 20 July 1985) was a great revolutionary of India’s freedom struggle. 
  2. Batukeshwar Dutt was first known by the country on 9 April 1929, when he along with Bhagat Singh was arrested after the bomb blast in the Central Legislative Assembly. 
  3. He did a remarkable job in organizing the freedom movement in Agra.
  4. Batukeshwar Dutt was born on 18 November 1910 in a Bengali Kayastha family in village-Oyadi, district – Nani Bedwan (Bengal). 
  5. His childhood was spent in Khanda and Mausu under Bardhaman district of Bengal province in addition to his place of birth. 
  6. His undergraduate education was completed at PPN College, Kanpur. 
  7. In 1924, he met Bhagat Singh in Kanpur. 
  8. After this, he started working for the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association in Kanpur. Also learned to make bombs in this sequence.
  9. On 8 April 1929, a bomb blast with Bhagat Singh in the Central Assembly (presently Parliament House), Delhi, opposed the dictatorship of the British state.

  5. Brought from Cellular Jail to Bankipur Central Jail, Patna in 1937 and released in 1938. Dutt, who returned from black water with a serious illness, was again arrested and released in 1945 after four years.
  6. After independence, after marrying Anjali Dutt in November 1947, he started living in Patna. 
  7. The Bihar Legislative Council had the distinction of making Batukeshwar Dutt its member in 1963. 
  8. Dutt died on 20 July 1965 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. After his death, he was cremated at the memorial site of his other revolutionary companions – Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at Hussaini Wala in Punjab. 
  9. One of his daughters, Bharti Bagchi, lives in Patna. Indra Kumar, who was an associate in Batukeshwar Dutt’s Legislative Council, says that “Swayam Dutt was a revolutionary who kept calm and away from political ambitions and was always anxious for the prosperity of the country”.
