വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍’ എന്ന കഥ പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്‌,
കഥയെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ മീര പറയുന്നത്‌:-*ഈ
കഥയിലെപ്പോലെ ഹൃദയമുരുകീ’ഞാന്‍ അതിനു
മുമ്പൊരിക്കലും പ്രണയിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.
ആ തീവ്രാനുഭവംഭരിക്കൽ കൂടി ഏറ്റെടുക്കാൻ
അധശൈര്യപ്പെട്ട്‌ ആതുപോലെ മാറ്റൊന്നെഴുതാന്‍
പിന്നീടൊരിക്കലും അഭിലഷിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല” ഈ

പെൺകുട്ടി വളരെ പരുഷമായി പെരുമാറി.
ദിലീപിന്റെ സുഹൃത്തും അമൃത ടി.വി. ന്യൂസ്‌
എഡിറ്ററുമായ മുരളി ഇടപെട്ട്‌ പെൺകുട്ടിയെ
അനുനയി പ്പിച്ചു. ഇരുവരും സുഹൃത്തുക്കളായി
പിരിഞ്ഞു. പിന്നീട്‌ സുഹൃത്തായി മാറിയ ദിലീപ്‌ ;
പെൺകുട്ടിക്ക്‌ പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ എത്തി
ച്ചുകൊടുത്തു. ഒരിക്കല്‍ കാഞ്ഞിരപ്പിള്ളി വന്നാൽ
തന്നെ വീട്ടില്‍ കാണണമെന്ന്‌ പെൺകുട്ടി
ദിലീപിനെ അറിയിച്ചു. ദിലീപ്‌ കാഞ്ഞി ;
രപ്പിള്ളിയിലെ വലിയൊരു ബംഗ്ലാവിലെത്തി.
സ്വീകരണമുറിയില്‍ കാത്തിരുന്നപ്പോൾ
അകത്തുനിന്നും വീല്‍ചെയറില്‍ പെൺകുട്ടി വന്നു. ;
അവളെ കണ്ട്‌ ദിലീപ്‌ ഞെട്ടി, ചെഷയര്‍ ഹോമിൽ
കണ്ടതു പോലെയായിരുന്നില്ല. മുടി കൊഴിഞ്ഞ്‌
ശരീരം ശോഷിച്ച്‌ ഒരു,കോലം. കുറച്ചു കാലം ;
കഴിഞ്ഞ്‌ ദിലീപിന്‌ കോട്ടയത്ത്‌ ജോലി ;
കിട്ടിയപ്പോള്‍ അയാള്‍ പെൺകുട്ടിയെ കാണാൻ
കാഞ്ഞിരപ്പിള്ളിയില്‍ എത്തി. അവൾ
മരിച്ചുചോയിരുന്നു.
ദിലിപിന്റെ ഈ അനുഭവമാണ്‌ കെ.ആര്‍.മീര
‘ഏകാന്തതയുടെ നൂറ്‌ വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌
പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചത്‌. ദിലീപാദ്യം കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ അവൾ
ഒരു ക്ലിയോപാട്ര ആയിരുന്നു. കാലുകളില്ലാത്ത
ക്ലിയോപാട.കഥ യുടെ സങ്കല്‍പ്പത്തിലേക്ക്‌ ഈ
പെണ്‍കുട്ടി കടന്നു വന്നപ്പോള്‍ കെ.ആര്‍. മീര
പറയുന്നു: “ഞാന്‍ ഒരു മത്സ്യകന്യകയെ കണ്ടു.
വെളുത്തുതുടുത്ത മുഖവും താമരവളയങ്ങൾ
പോലെ ശോഷിച്ച്‌ കാലുകളും. പെട്ടെന്ന്‌ അവൾ ]
